Everyone likes meat loaf, but sometimes we hear people complain about it being so dry. This is easily remedied and is likely because it was baked uncovered. To prevent dry meat loaf and keep the moisture in, just wrap it in tinfoil before putting in the oven.
1 - Start with some good meat loaf from a butcher shop, a pound to two pounds depending upon the number of servings desired. You can use just ground beef, but most butcher shops have meat loaf for sale that is made with beef, pork and veil. If you want to use ground beef that's fine, but use ground beef that's not too lean, maybe about 15% fat for better moisture.
2 - Put some tinfoil in a baking pan, enough that you will be able to fold it over the meat loaf when ready to put it in the oven.
3 - Put the meat loaf in the pan, on top the tinfoil, add and mix in your choice of ingredients such as catsup, salsa, chili sauce or something with a tomato base. Add in some chopped onions, powdered or chopped garlic, green peppers and chopped cabbage. Or if you prefer you can use the cabbage leaves to wrap the meat loaf in, which ads a nice flavor either way.
4 - Depending upon desired taste other ingredients may be added for extra flavor, such as some hot sauce, taco sauce or Jalapeno peppers, if you want it hot and spicy.
5 - Once all the ingredients are mixed into your meat loaf, cover your loaf with the tinfoil and bake in a pre-heated oven at about 375 to 400 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. You can pretty much tell when it's done by the wonderful aroma you will experience coming from the oven. If you are baking it in a toaster oven you may need to leave it in for an hour or so at about 450 degrees.
You will find the meat loaf is very moist and incredibly delicious!
